Homicide charges for a Duquesne man slated to go to trial this week were withdrawn Monday by the Allegheny County district attorney’s office.
Deamonte Shakoor, 21, was accused of killing Kellcy Thomas, 18, on March 29, 2013, in McKeesport. He was scheduled for trial before Common Pleas Judge Anthony M. Mariani.
According to the DA’s office, the case was withdrawn for evidentiary reasons. The testimony of a key witness against Shakoor substantially changed.
