Canonsburg native’s body found in Washington mudslide



The body of a former Canonsburg man missing since the massive March 22 mudslide near Oso, Wash., has been found.

Billy L. Spillers, 30, died in the slide that has so far claimed 33 lives, according to the Snohomish County medical examiner’s office.

Mr. Spillers’ daughter Kaylee Spillers, 5, and his 13-year-old stepson Jovon Mangual, also were killed. His 2-year-old daughter, Brooke, is still missing.

A Navy chief petty officer, Mr. Spillers was a 2001 graduate of Chartiers-Houston Junior/Senior High. His wife, Jonielle Spillers, was not home when the slide hit.
