McKeesport has lifted a state of emergency declaration after receiving help treating its streets.

The city lifted the declaration at 2 p.m., saying in a statement from Mayor Michael Cherepko's office that "the critical situation that was potentially dangerous to the safety of residents and visitors has been alleviated."

The city, out of road salt, had asked people to stay off its streets, which were coated in snow and ice from the weekend storm. The statement said all primary and secondary routes have been treated, with assistance from Allegheny County, PennDOT, Monroeville, Liberty and Port Vue.
