The negotiator for teachers in the Elizabeth Forward School District and the district solicitor are scheduled to meet with a fact-finder Tuesday.
Chrissy Cortazzo of the Pennsylvania State Education Association, who is negotiating for the Elizabeth Forward Education Association, said she will meet with district solicitor Pat McGrail and fact-finder Jane Minnich in a private session of the school board.
After that, Ms. Minnich is expected to issue her report of recommendations around Sept. 27, Ms. Cortazzo said.
A meeting with the fact-finder was held Tuesday to gather information for recommendations for a new teachers' contract. The most recent contract, a five-year agreement, began Sept. 1, 2008, and ended Aug. 31 of this year.
Ms. Cortazzo, a former teacher, said the teachers do not want a strike.
"They love working at Elizabeth Forward. They love the students there. The last thing we want to do is go on strike," she said.
She said she could not yet comment on what the teachers want in the new contract in term of wages and benefits. Superintendent Bart Rocco also would not comment on what the district wants in the new contract until after the fact-finder's report is released.
After the report is released, Ms. Cortazzo said she will present it to the teachers for a vote, and the district will present it to the school board for its vote.education - neigh_south
