CHILDREN

Mt. Lebanon -- A free, two-hour SAT workshop will be offered at Mt. Lebanon Public Library, 16 Castle Shannon Blvd., at 2 p.m. Feb. 3, with lectures on strategies for math, critical reading, writing multiple choice and essay sections.

FITNESS

Bethel Park -- Christ United Methodist Church, 44 Highland Road, will hold a course on exercise and cardiac disease at 7 p.m. Tuesday. Information: 412-835-6621.

Jefferson Hills -- An eight-week Zumba fitness class will be held from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesdays through March 12, at Jefferson Hills Public Library, 925 Old Clairton Road. Tuition: $5 per class.

FOOD

Whitehall -- The Sisters of St. Francis of the Providence of God are selling haluski -- a cabbage and noodle dish -- and soup and dinner rolls for takeout Feb. 13, Ash Wednesday. Orders should be placed by Feb. 7. Call 412-885-7232. All proceeds benefit the sisters.

FUNDRAISERS

Mt. Lebanon -- Mt. Lebanon Public Library will hold Brews for a Chili Night III, a beer-and-chili fundraiser, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday at the library, 16 Castle Shannon Blvd. Admission: $30. Tickets, on sale at library's front desk, are not available at the door. Admission includes complimentary beers from two dozen craft brewers, cider, soft drinks, homemade chili, snacks and desserts. Musical entertainment will be by Cello Fury. Proceeds support library programs and materials.

MEETINGS

Bethel Park -- Christ United Methodist Church, 44 Highland Road, will hold a session called "Celebrate Recovery" to help people who are struggling with "hurts, habits and hang-ups" at 7 p.m. Monday. Information: 412-835-6621.

OUTDOORS

Nottingham -- The Washington County Department of Parks and Recreation is offering a home-school outdoor classroom at Mingo Creek County Park at 10 a.m. and at 1 p.m. Feb. 14 at the park office. Home-schooled children ages 5 to 11 can attend for a $1 fee. Register by calling the Washington County Department of Parks and Recreation Office: 724-228-6867.

PERFORMANCES

Brentwood -- St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 4048 Brownsville Road, will hold a winter concert featuring local bands at 6 p.m. Saturday.

SALE

Pleasant Hills -- The Pleasant Hills Lions Club is searching for vendors for its farmers market, which will be held from 3:30 to 7 p.m. Thursdays, May 16 through Oct. 27, in the parking lot of Pleasant Hills Community Presbyterian Church, 199 Old Clairton Road. Bethel Park -- The South Hills Coin Club will hold its 53rd anniversary coin show from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Feb. 2 and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Feb. 3 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, 164 Fort Couch Road. Free admission.

Mt. Lebanon -- A presentation on Slovak heritage will be presented at 7 p.m. Feb. 4 by local Slovak musician Jerry Jumba at the public library, 16 Castle Shannon Blvd.

Mt. Lebanon -- A classic vocal jazz and blues program will be offered at 11 a.m. Feb. 1 at the Adult Interest Center at Southminster Presbyterian Church, 799 Washington Road. Lunch, for $6, will be served at noon. No reservations necessary.

TALKS

Baldwin Borough -- A program about paying for college will be held at 10 a.m. Feb. 23 at the Baldwin Public Library, 41 Macek Drive. More information and to register: www.baldwinborolibrary.org.

Bethel Park -- The Southwestern Pennsylvania Registered Nurses Club will meet at 9:30 a.m. Feb. 19 at Hamilton Presbyterian Church, 4500 Baptist Road, to hear a talk about the impact of hip fractures in the elderly. All registered nurses welcome.

Canonsburg -- Kristy Williamson, director of client services for Country Meadows At Home retirement communities, will give a talk titled "Navigating the Maze of Senior Care" from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Frank Sarris Canonsburg Library, 45 N.
