Burgettstown lawyer Paul Walsh is dropping out of the race for the 46th Legislative District in favor of another Democratic candidate.

Mr. Walsh this morning confirmed he will step aside after discussions with candidate Tom Casciola. Both men had announced plans to challenge incumbent state Rep. Jesse White, D-Cecil, for the seat. Two Republicans also are running.

Mr. Walsh, who previously ran against Mr. White and lost narrowly in 2006, said he will support Mr. Casciola.

Mr. Walsh said he stepped aside “so that we can move forward and beat Jesse White.”
