It's a windy morning across southwestern Pennsylvania.
Commuters were facing energetic gusts that caused driving difficulties and flying tree branches and other debris.
In its public information statement at 6:19 a.m., the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh reported a wind gust of 51 mph near McMurray, Washington County, at 5:45 a.m. Also, the Allegheny County Airport reported a gust of 48 mph at 5:49 a.m.; Pittsburgh International Airport, 44 mph at 4:34 a.m.; and Washington County Airport, 44 mph at 5:35 a.m.
By 7:10 a.m., the weather service had posted a special weather statement for Fayette, Greene, Westmoreland and Indiana counties, where a line of showers with gusty winds were occurring.
Winds are expected to diminish as the day progresses.
