State police at Mercer said there was a lack of "sufficient evidence" to verify a report of sexual abuse at a state prison in Mercer County.
A news release issued late Saturday said police had been told earlier this month of "sexual assault between inmates" at the State Correctional Institution - Mercer, located in Findley. The victim allegedly was a 29-year-old male inmate. The Post-Gazette does not identify reported victims of sexual assault.
The news release indicated that the investigation was ended "due to a lack of sufficient evidence which indicated that an assault had occurred."
No other details were available.
