Allegheny County offers free shots of shingles vaccine

The shingles vaccine is now available for free to people age 50 and older while supplies last at the Allegheny County Health Department’s vaccination clinic, 3441 Forbes Ave., Oakland.

No appointment is needed, but people are asked to call 412-578-8062 ahead of time to see if vaccine is still available. The clinic is open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays and 1 to 8 p.m. Wednesdays.

The Pennsylvania Department of Health has supplied about 300 doses of the shingles vaccine at no cost to the county.
