Allegheny County Council has voted down a proposal that would institute a three-year moratorium on natural gas drilling in county parks.

County council member Barbara Daly Danko, D-Regent Square, proposed the bill in September. It languished in committee for two months before Ms. Danko called on council to put it on the floor.

While that measure passed 8-7, the final vote on the bill itself failed, 2-9, with four council members abstaining because of conflicts of interest

Only Ms. Danko and Bill Robinson, D-Hill District, the bill's two sponsors, voted yes.
