A 5-year-old girl, who fell 20 feet onto concrete below a second-floor window today in Ross is breathing but unresponsive and had minimal use of her extremities tonight, police said.
The girl is at Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC after having fallen from a bedroom window of the home in the 100 block of Rene Drive, Ross police Sgt. Benjamin Dripps said.
A neighbor saw the child lying on the ground, tried to make contact with someone inside the home and then yelled for someone to call 911 at 5:01 p.m., Sgt. Dripps said. The girl's mother was in the home tending to another child and was unaware she had fallen, he said.
The mother and neighbor were there when police arrived, and the girl was breathing but unresponsive at that time, Sgt. Dripps said. Her father arrived home while police were there, he said.
Sgt. Dripps said police are investigating, but "there is nothing to suggest this was anything more than an accident."
