Smoking lawsuit settled

A bus mechanic whose complaints about workplace smoking soured his relations with co-workers and bosses has settled his federal lawsuit for $32,500, according to an agreement released to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette late last week.

Dale W. Doutt of West Middlesex sued the New Castle Area Transit Authority in July, claiming that five years of pleading for enforcement of the agency’s no-smoking policy got him nothing but trumped-up criticisms and veiled threats.
