Ross explores option to extend summer recreation program

Ross Township may convert its summer recreation program to a full day.

Recreation director Eloise Peet told commissioners Monday that she has been talking with administrators of the North Hills School District about offering an all-day program at the high school instead of half-day programs at the elementary schools.

Only 142 children attended the program last year, a fraction of the 500 to 600 children they used to get, Ms. Peet said.

A survey conducted during open houses at the elementary schools showed that many more parents would take advantage of the program if it was a full day, she said.
