he Seneca Valley School board is still searching for a new member.

Board members met tonight at their reorganization meeting with the intention to name a replacement for Kelly Kopera, who resigned in November due to health issues.

Two candidates had applied for the position, but both changed their minds, one just today, said Linda Andreassi, district spokeswoman.

Seneca Valley School directors are elected by district and Ms. Kopera represented Evans City and Seven Fields boroughs. Her replacement must live in one of those communities.

Matt Hoffman, school board solicitor, said the district had 30 days of exclusive authority to name Ms. Kopera’s replacement and after that time any group of 10 people can petition to have Common Pleas Court appoint a new member. Mr. Hoffman said that is unlikely to happen.

He said the board will continue to look for interested candidates. Their next regular meeting is Jan. 20.
