A father and son were stabbed today during an argument at a New Castle home, police said.

Joseph Bohzic stabbed his son Terry Kohlmetz in the buttocks area after an argument, New Castle City police chief Robert Salem said in a press release.

The chief said that it appears that the son's girlfriend tried to intervene, when Mr. Bohzic threatened her with a knife. She then stabbed him in the chest, Chief Salem said, and called 911 to the residence on the 500 block of East Long Avenue.

Mr. Bohzic was transported to UPMC Presbyterian, and Mr. Kohlmetz was taken to a Youngstown hospital.

Charges are pending further investigation, the chief said.
