One motorist died and a passenger injured in a two-vehicle crash on northbound Interstate 79 in Butler County this morning.

The driver of a small Plymouth was stopped on the berm between routes 228 and 528 around 10 a.m. Friday "when for whatever reason proceeded into the travel lane with a sharp left turn," said Trooper Dan Kesten. A pickup truck hauling a camper struck the Plymouth and killed the driver, while a passenger was transported by helicopter to a hospital.

Three passengers in the truck did not seek medical attention.

The driver was not identified pending notification of family.
