Students at Shady Side Academy Middle School are being sent home after a bomb threat this morning.

Students and faculty were evacuated from the Fox Chapel campus and moved to the Senior School nearby, according to school spokeswoman Jennifer Roupe and a statement on the school's website.

All middle school classes have been canceled for the day.

Police swept the campus with bomb-sniffing dogs and found no credible threats, Ms. Roupe said.

Parents have been contacted via email and phone about pick-up procedures.

A teacher walking into school this morning picked up a piece of paper in the faculty parking lot and noticed it was a bomb threat, Ms. Roupe said. There were a couple of them on the ground, she said.

"It indicated 'bomb,' 'Oct. 1,' 'at 11:30,'" she said, adding that she wasn't aware that this day carries any significance.

Between 150 and 175 students were evacuated. Seventh-graders had already left for a planned field trip and were allowed to proceed.
