Federal prosecutors are seeking information about a Slippery Rock man who was arrested last week and charged with possession of child pornography, but also told investigators that he had sex with three young boys.

Mark Beres, 53, is detained pending indictment by order of U.S. Magistrate Judge Cynthia Eddy. According to an affidavit by U.S. Postal Inspector Karen Yoakum, he became a subject of investigation after authorities found records of $2,716 of orders for child pornography that were shipped to his address from the New York state offices of a firm called the International Co.

A search of Mr. Beres' home and computer, according to the affidavit, revealed 500,000 images and approximately 550 videos of nude minors, including some of minors being subjected to sex acts. In a written statement, according to the affidavit, Mr. Beres "admitted that he had engaged in sexual contact with three boys, ages 3, 7 and 13, approximately 30 times."

The U.S. Attorney's Office indicated that Mr. Beres had been working as an optometrist at the Sears in New Castle. Anyone with more information should call the U.S. Postal Inspection Service at 412-490-6513.
