Ross Township police Chief Robert Bellan will retire within three years.
Commissioners Monday approved his request to enter into a program where he would not accrue any additional pension benefits, but can use that money to purchase health insurance after he retires.
Once you enter the program, you must retire within three years, he said.
Chief Bellan has been with the Ross police for 25 years, including the last two years as chief.
The motion to approve Chief Bellan's request to enter the program was approved 8-1 with commission Chairman Grant Montgomery opposing it because he said he didn't want the chief to retire.neigh_north
