A Whitaker man was sentenced to two consecutive life prison terms with no chance of parole this morning for killing two men in 2012.

Richard Krista, 22, had no comment to Common Pleas Judge Joseph K. Williams III as he passed judgment.

"The real crime is just the narcissism of Richard Krista and his sense of power and the blatant disregard for the life of other people," the judge said.

Krista was found guilty by a jury of two counts of first-degree murder in June. It was the third time his case went to trial. In each of the first two, the jurors could not reach a unanimous verdict.

Police said Krista killed Cody Ruder, 21, and Joseph Sherrill, 19, both of West Mifflin, on May 11, 2012, at the Monview Heights housing complex.

Assistant District Attorney Robert Schupansky told the jury that Krista was mad about comments Ruder made to his girlfriend.

Defense attorney James Wymard has said that he will appeal the verdict.
