Superior Motors, Kevin Sousa’s planned restaurant in Braddock, is still months from opening but that’s not to say the site hasn‘t been busy with parties and other gatherings.
On June 21, for instance, more than 100 people gathered in its parking lot for a summer solstice party to celebrate the lighting of the newly commissioned Braddock sign on the side of the brick building.
This Saturday afternoon, July 26, Pittsburgh street artist/sculptor Tim Kaulen will bring a Mobile Sculpture Workshop to 1215 Braddock Ave. to teach young people about metal-working and talk about his upcoming project in Homestead. If you’re unfamiliar, he‘’s the guy who’s responsible for the 40-foot deer head crafted from a patchwork of water pipe, iron tubing, hose and stainless steel at the Carrie Furnaces.
The event, which runs from noon to 4 p.m., will include two good eats: Mr. Sousa‘s smoked brisket and sourdough bread baked by Shauna Kearns in the Braddock Community Oven. The Brew Gentlemen, who recently opened a brewery at 512 Braddock Ave., also will offer samples of their beer.
It‘s free to the public.
