Two men charged in connection with a Penn Hills shooting death last week waived their preliminary hearings this morning.

Traevon Nicholson, of Verona, and Marshall Thompson, of Penn Hills, both 18, are charged with homicide, conspiracy and weapons violations in the death of Jose Alberto Negron Fernandez, 21.

Penn Hills police responding to a shooting in the 100 block of Third Street on June 19 found Mr. Fernandez shot once in the chest, on the ground, near what they believed was his car, county police have said.

Police have said Mr. Fernandez was involved in a drug deal at the time of the shooting and was possibly being robbed before he was shot.
