A fifth person has died from injuries following a crash Wednesday in Armstrong County.
Kent Smith, 34, of Elderton died at 11:10 p.m. Thursday at UPMC Presbyterian, according to the Allegheny County medical examiner's office. He was taken to the hospital, where two others also are being treated, after the crash on Route 156 in South Bend.
Pennsylvania State Police said Brandon James Sulava, 19, of Apollo was driving a westbound Ford Mustang GT that lost control at high speed on a bend near Gobblers Run Road about 10:20 p.m.
Mr. Sulava's car, carrying 18-year-old Brieyonah Marie Painter of Kittanning and 15-year-old Brandon Sauers of Apollo slid into the oncoming lane and was hit on the driver's side by a Chevrolet Lumina driven by Crystal Kay Kelley, 41, of Avonmore.
The three teens and Mrs. Kelley were pronounced dead at the scene.
Mr. Smith, who died Thursday, was a passenger in the Lumina. He was a "very good" friend of the Kelleys, according to Mr. Kelley's grandmother, Shirley Kelley.
Two other passengers in the Lumina -- Mrs. Kelley's husband, Robert Edward Kelley Jr., 33, and the couple's friend Kristy Ann Schall, 35, of Shelocta -- were seriously injured and were taken to Presbyterian in critical condition.
