A Brookline man will stand trial on charges that he killed his ex-wife's boyfriend in Swissvale, a district judge ruled today.

David Edick, 27, of Brookline faces charges of homicide and burglary in the death of Ryan Beal, 27, who was found shot to death Aug. 31 at the bottom of a stairwell in his Swissvale apartment building.

Allegheny County police previously said they suspect Mr. Edick broke into the Duquesne Avenue apartment Mr. Beal and his girlfriend shared, fought with Mr. Beal and shot him.

Mr. Edick was arrested in Texas last month after the U.S. Border Patrol stopped him while he was trying to swim the Rio Grande River.
