Authorities identify victim killed in Downtown Pittsburgh taxi incident

Police arrive at the scene of an accident in which two pedestrians were hit by a vehicle Friday night on Sixth Street and Liberty Avenue in Downtown, Pittsburgh.
Authorities have identified the pedestrian killed when a taxi jumped a curb in Downtown Pittsburgh Friday night
The Allegheny County medical examiner said Jaafar Bey, 55, of Carnegie was pronounced dead at the scene, on Sixth Street at Liberty Avenue at 8:44 p.m.
Pittsburgh police said another person was injured and taken to UPMC Mercy. That person’s condition has not been released.
The accident occurred about 8:30 p.m.
One witness said she saw the Veterans Taxi sport-utility vehicle traveling "fast" on Liberty. She said the vehicle for some reason veered toward the curb, jumped it, and ran over Mr. Bey and struck the other.
