The accident scene Friday night outside Heinz Hall at Sixth Street and Liberty Avenue, Downtown.
One man was killed and another man was injured Friday night when a taxi jumped a curb Downtown and ran them over.
The accident occurred about 8:30 p.m. near the intersection of Liberty Avenue and Sixth Street. Pittsburgh public safety spokeswoman Sonya Toler said police were trying to determine where the men were coming from and whether they were together.
There is a Port Authority bus stop near the intersection, but Ms. Toler didn't know whether the men were waiting for a bus.
Dorothy Lane, 51, of Pittsburgh's West End, was across Liberty and saw the Veterans Taxi sport-utility vehicle traveling "fast" on Liberty. She said the vehicle for some reason veered toward the curb, jumped it, and ran over one man and struck the other.
The first man died at the scene; the second was being treated at UPMC Mercy. Their names had not been released.
