Pittsburgh’s Urban Development Authority announced today it is seeking a new developer for the former Masonic Hall on the North Side.

Developer Wayne Zukin originally was named to redevelop a series of buildings around the former Garden Theater, but the URA previously removed other parts of the project from him, and now he has just the former theater. That site is being turned into a restaurant to be known as ARDE by Dominic Branduzzi.

The URA said it expects the hall to keep proposed tenant Alphabet City, a nonprofit literary center, bookstore, workshop and performance space and restaurant focused on writers not welcome in their home countries. The agency said it may seek a new developer or redevelop the hall itself.
