A female was shot and wounded while driving in Homewood, and a 16-year-old boy was shot and critically injured Downtown, KDKA-TV reported.
Police responded at 8:30 p.m. to the intersection of Kelly and Sterrett streets in Homewood, an Allegheny County emergency dispatch supervisor said.
A woman there was shot twice in the neck, but drove a short distance before getting out of her car and collapsing nearby. She was taken to UPMC Presbyterian in critical condition.
A man believed to be in the car ran from the scene. Police said the woman was wounded in what they called “a running gun battle.”
“It sounded like it was ‘pow, pow, pow, pow, pow’ coming down the street. All of the sudden you heard the car go ‘bam.’ And we’re all here looking at this violence,” Wynon Hawkins, a neighbor, told KDKA-TV. “When does this violence stop in Homewood? And how many more African-American people are going to kill each other behind nothing?”
Later, police were called at 10:40 p.m. to 7th Avenue and William Penn Place, Downtown, for another shooting, an Allegheny County emergency dispatch supervisor said.
A 16-year-old boy was reportedly shot and critically injured, according to KDKA-TV.
