Pittsburgh police said one man was killed and another injured when a gunman opened fire at a group Wednesday afternoon in Northview Heights.
Police identified the victim as Eugene Thomas David III, 19, of Braddock. Mr. David was found lying beside a van in the parking lot in front of an apartment building in the 300 block of Penfort Street at 2:38 p.m., according to police. The other man, who was not identified, was taken to Allegheny General Hospital with a wounded right thigh.
Lt. Daniel Herrmann said two different groups of males had a confrontation when the gunman firing randomly toward the other group.
Officers used a shovel to dig out several bullet shells from the lawn of the apartment across the street.
