Pittsburgh police are investigating an incident at Carnegie Mellon University in which a 23-year-old female student was discovered on the roof of her dormitory this morning with no recollection of how she got there.

The student was first spotted lying face down on the roof at around 3 a.m. by a male who lives in the dormitory, Webster Hall, according the police spokeswoman Sonya Toler. The student did not report the sighting at the time, but when he saw the girl was still on the roof at 8:30 a.m., he took a picture and showed it to the university employee at the building's front desk. Police and EMS were notified.

"We discovered the student there on the roof still," Ms. Toler said. "We don't know how she got on the roof."

The student was taken to UPMC Presbyterian, where she is being treated for back injuries and two broken ankles. Police believe the student may have a medical condition that led to the situation, according to Ms. Toler.
