City homicide detectives are investigating the death this morning of a man who was found dead in Homewood. Autopsy results show the victim died of multiple gunshot wounds to his trunk.
A news release from the city public safety department said police were called to Brushton Avenue and Race Street after someone heard shots being fired. The caller to the emergency dispatch center indicated that he had heard about six shots and had seen three men running into a nearby park.
Police said a search of the area, with the help of a passer-by, resulted in finding a man face-down in a grassy area in the 1000 block of Brushton Avenue.
The man, who has not yet been identified, was pronounced dead at the scene at 1:29 a.m.
No information on the victim's age or address was available.
