A man confronted a runner at knife point Thursday afternoon in Friendship and attempted to sexually assault her, public safety spokeswoman Sonya Toler said. The man approached the woman about 4 p.m. in the 400 block of Roup Street.

"She was able to fight back, and the male actor fled on foot," she said.

Police searched the area for more than an hour and could not find the man, she said. He is described as a black male in his 30s, standing 6-foot-2, weighing 160 to 170 pounds with a thin build, Ms. Toler said. Lines and a star design are cut into his hair and he was wearing an orange shirt and dark blue or black windbreaker pants.

Anyone with information that might lead to the arrest of the suspect is asked to call 911.
