Mount Washington girl, 15, shot in Brookline

Pittsburgh police are investigating the early morning shooting of a 15-year-old girl from Mount Washington.

A news release from the city's public safety unit said the girl arrived at UPMC Mercy with a gunshot wound to her right shoulder at about 1:30 a.m.

She had told police she was walking with two friends near a convenience store on Brookline Boulevard when she was shot. Her friends drove her to the hospital.

At about the same time, police had received a call of shots being fired in the 2300 block of Edgebrook Avenue in Brookline, according to the statement from authorities.
