A woman was stabbed during a brawl inside a Strip District nightclub early this morning, Pittsburgh police said.

Police responded to Cruze Bar at 1600 Smallman St. around 1 a.m. for a report that a woman had been injured inside the nightclub, according to city public safety spokeswoman Sonya Toler. The 21-year-old woman from Sewickley told police she was backing away from a fight that had broken out among three people when she was stabbed in the upper left thigh, Ms. Toler said. She was taken to UPMC Mercy, where she is in good condition.

Police said Deandre Yarbrough, 22, of Perry South was charged with aggravated assault and was being held at the Allegheny County Jail.

Ms. Toler said police recovered a knife at the scene.

In a separate incident at the same bar, police arrested Matthew Pressley, 23, of Marshall-Shadeland, and charged him with aggravated assault, resisting arrest and public drunkenness in connection with an argument he had with the bar’s owner, according to police.
