Two men were shot, one fatally, in a crowded bar in the city's Uptown section this morning.

Sonya Toler, a spokesman for the city police, said multiple shots were fired inside Ficklin's Bar in the 1500 block of Fifth Avenue.

Clayton Brunson, 27, of Spring Hill, died. A spokesman for the Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office said Mr. Brunson was taken to UPMC Mercy for surgery following the 1:33 a.m. shooting, but he died on the operating table. He was pronounced dead at 2:40 a.m.

Ms. Toler said Mr. Brunson was shot at least once in the abdomen. An autopsy was to be conducted today.

Ms. Toler said a second man was shot in the foot and is in stable condition at UPMC Mercy. She would not provide his identity but said he is 25 years old and from Carrick.

Ms. Toler said there were about 200 people in the bar when the shooting occurred. What precipitated the incident is, as yet, unknown. No arrests have been made.

Police are asking anyone with information to call the homicide unit at 412-323-7161.
