A teenager was in critical condition after being shot Friday night in Homewood, Pittsburgh police said.

Officers in the city's Zone 5 station went to the 1000 block of Brushton Avenue about 11 p.m. for a report that a 16-year-old had been shot, public safety spokeswoman Sonya Toler said.

Medics took the teen, whose gender was not immediately available, to UPMC Presbyterian with a gunshot wound to the chest and abdomen, she said.
