The state has agreed to pay $20,000 to a man who said he was physically and sexually abused on the State Correctional Institution Pittsburgh's F Block.

An agreement settling the man's case in U.S. District Court indicates that the state is not admitting liability. The man, represented by attorney Wayne Chiurazzi, sued two corrections officers and five current or former supervisors at the prison.

The 39-year-old man's claims were among those presented in seven criminal cases filed against men who were corrections officers at SCI Pittsburgh in late 2010 and early 2011. Two of the officers were found guilty -- though not of the alleged sexual abuses -- and sentenced to probation.

The Post-Gazette does not name people who say they were victims of sexual abuse. Like many of the F Block inmates who made the accusation, the plaintiff was imprisoned for a sexual crime, though he was found not guilty.

The settlement was finalized in a release provided to the Post-Gazette today in response to a request under the Right to Know Act.
