Pittsburgh Mayor Bill Peduto said today his staff has turned over evidence of a damaged truck and unspecified missing “items” to the FBI for investigation.

Mr. Peduto, responding to questions after a news conference on state pensions, said his staff discovered the problems shortly after he took office last month. He said the information was turned over to the FBI because he “wasn’t sure whether we could use internal police” to investigate the matter.

He declined to comment further on the matter.
