A Braddock man who took his daughter from Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC last month, prompting a false report of a kidnapping, waived his preliminary hearing today.

Pittsburgh police said the daughter of Jacqua Barnett, 26, was the subject of a custody dispute when he removed her from the hospital, where she was being evaluated Dec. 19. He has not been charged with kidnapping the girl.

Police charged him with endangering the welfare of a child, interference with child custody and simple assault -- which police said stemmed from an altercation with the girl's mother at the hospital.

Mr. Barnett is scheduled to appear in court for formal arraignment Feb. 25, according to online court records.
