OAKLAND: The Cornell University Glee Club, Cornell's oldest student organization, will open the 2014 spring concert series at Heinz Memorial Chapel at 7:30 p.m. on the Pitt campus with a performance focused on "Love and Loss." The concert will include the premiere of the commissioned work, "Lincoln The Musician," which sets the Gettysburg Address to music by composer Toby Twining; choral music from various cultures; and traditional Cornell songs. SHADYSIDE: The Cornell University Glee Club will perform a free concert at 12:30 p.m. in Shadyside Presbyterian Church, 5121 Westminster Place. Under the direction of Robert Isaacs, the glee club also will sing at the 11 a.m. service at the church, beginning with a choral prelude at 10:45 a.m. A reception will follow at noon in the church's Sharp Atrium.
