A pedestrian was critically injured when he got off a bus in the Strip District this afternoon and stepped into the path of a car, Pittsburgh police said.

The pedestrian was injured near the intersection of Liberty Avenue and 17th Street about noon.

Police said the man, whose name and age they did not release, got off a Port Authority bus, walked in front of it and then stepped into the path of a car that had the right of way.

Police said the driver of the car stayed at the scene.
