A $2.9 million project to replace the South Highland Avenue Bridge in East Liberty is scheduled for completion on Oct. 21, a city spokeswoman said.
When work began in March, the target for completion was mid-September. But the contractor, Trumbull Corp., has until the October date to finish the work and reopen the street without facing penalties for late completion, mayoral spokeswoman Marissa Doyle said. Traffic has been detoured since construction began.
Bad weather was one factor in the rescheduled completion date, Ms. Doyle said. "Given the scale of the project, this is still a very quick turnaround," she said. Public works director Rob Kaczorowski also cited complications from working above an active rail line and delays in delivery of materials that he said are not uncommon in construction projects.neigh_city - Transportation
