A 23-year-old Carnegie man was charged today with raping a woman and then threatening her via text message.

David J. Sams, 23, slept at the woman's house, "due to miscommunication and misunderstanding," city police wrote in a criminal complaint. After he was told to sleep on the couch and the woman went to her bedroom to sleep, she woke up to find Mr. Sams taking her clothes off, police said. He raped the woman and cut her with a broken mirror, police said.

Police said Mr. Sams later texted the woman, "disgusting you would lie to the police like that."

Mr. Sams faces a felony count each of rape, sexual assault, aggravated indecent assault, and intimidating a victim; and a misdemeanor count each of simple assault and unlawful restraint. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for June 3.
