Pittsburgh police have arrested three men accused of stealing bronze doors and a stained glass window from a mausoleum and selling them to buy heroin.
Michael Lawrence, 33, and Travis Haun, 30, were arrested last week in a home in the 1200 block of Colfax Street on the North Side. Nicholas M. Viglione III, 32, of Mt. Washington was arrested on Jan. 10, police spokeswoman Diane Richard said in a press release issued today.
Zone 1 plainclothes detectives began investigating after someone at the Union Dale #1 Cemetery reported on Jan. 3 that the doors and window had been stolen.
Ms. Richard said the men took the stolen objects to a home on Colfax Street, chopped them into pieces, sold them as scraps and then used the money to buy heroin.
All three face charges of theft by unlawful taking, institutional vandalism, receiving stolen property and desecration of venerated objects, Ms. Richard said.mobilehome - neigh_city
