An Allegheny County judge upheld but reduced a fine today levied against Collier Development for illegal demolitions on the historic site of the former Iron City brewery in Lawrenceville.

Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas Senior Judge Robert Gallo found that Collier demolished buildings without a permit at the former brewery, assessing an $8,500 fine.

Judge Gallo also found against claims that Collier did not properly get the approval of the Historic Review Commission for work on the site.

The decision was made today on Collier's appeal of $20,000 in fines -- $10,000 for each accusation -- that District Judge Tony Ceoffe ordered in the summer.

Collier bought the property, a city-designated historic site, earlier this year and is in the community planning process for its reuse.
