A U.S. Steel Corp. worker from McKees Rocks died Friday after being injured two weeks ago at the Clairton plant, the company said.

Russell Brown, 64, was burned in the quench tower, where water cools coke after it has been heated, company spokeswoman Courtney Boone said.

He died at 7:06 p.m. Friday at UPMC Mercy, the Allegheny County medical examiner's office said. Though an autopsy was performed today, the cause and manner of his death are pending.

The incident is under review by U.S. Steel Corp. and regulatory agencies, Ms. Boone said.
