Police have arrested the 25-year-old driver alleged to have struck and killed a pedestrian early this morning in a hit-and-run collision in Brookline.
Michael Rafaloski of Beechview is charged with homicide by vehicle, accident involving death and injury, accident involving death or injury while not licensed, driving with an invalid license and DUI.
Police said Mr. Rafaloski was behind the wheel of a blue Ford Explorer that hit 25-year-old Sean Conroy of Munhall about 2:20 a.m. in the 2300 block of Pioneer Avenue.
Mr. Conroy was pronounced dead at UPMC Mercy at 2:55 a.m.
Using evidence left by the vehicle, police issued an alert for blue pickup or SUV with a broken bug shield. After a search of the area, they saw the Explorer in a driveway in the 900 block of Tropical Ave. The SUV was parked facing a house and had heavy front-end damage, police said.
