An early morning fire today in Washington County destroyed a two-story home and sent three people to the hospital.

Firefighters from the Chartiers Valley Volunteer Fire Company were called at 7:54 a.m. to the frame house at 623 Railroad Street in Houston. By the time they finished battling the flames around 10:30 a.m., “it was pretty well gutted,” said Sgt. Charles Harton, traffic supervisor for the Chartiers Township Police Department.

Three people were treated for smoke inhalation, including one who was flown to UPMC Mercy. No additional details were immediately available
