PATTON, Pa. -- State police, firefighters and the coroner have been called to the scene of a house explosion in Cambria County where authorities believe a methamphetamine lab may have been operating.

Troopers from the Ebensburg barracks and the Cambria County coroner's office confirm at least one fatality, but say they can't offer other immediate details.

County 911 dispatchers say the explosion was reported a few minutes before 9 a.m. Tuesday in Clearfield Township, near Patton.

It was not immediately clear why authorities believed a lab to make the powerful illegal stimulant may have sparked the blast. But dispatchers say hazardous materials crews are on scene to deal with any volatile chemicals known to be used to make the drug.
