West Virginia starting senior cornerback Brandon Hogan was arrested in Morgantown early Sunday and charged with driving under the influence.

"I have been made aware of the situation and am gathering the facts at this time," West Virginia football coach Bill Stewart said. "I will take appropriate action when all the facts are in."

Hogan, 22, was pulled over at 3:17 a.m. after being spotted by police driving in the wrong direction on Spruce Street in downtown Morgantown.

Hogan was arraigned and released on bond.

There have been transgressions for Hogan -- who became a regular starter during his sophomore year -- in the past.

In April, Hogan, who is from Manassas, Va., was cited in Morgantown for public urination.

During this past spring, he missed much of spring practice because his conditioning lacked and he also struggled with some of his classwork.

At 5-feet-10, 189-pounds, Hogan is considered an NFL caliber prospect for the Mountaineers and, undeniably, one of their on-field leaders on defense this season.

In West Virginia's first two games (both wins) Hogan amassed 11 tackles, had an interception and also returned two punts.
